See it’s the opposite for me. I’m pleasantly surprised at how much they showed of Belle’s personality in 1 episode. 

She was brave. She gave up her freedom to save her town and she wasn’t scared of Rump, who could have killed her with a snap of his fingers.

She was adventurous, wanted to do something exciting with her life. Her dream was to travel the world, which makes her being locked in that asylum even more heartbreaking.

She was nurturing and non-judgmental. She tried to get Rump to open up, wanted to learn more about his life. She saw the good in him, when nobody else would. She didn’t care about his appearance. She just wanted so badly for him to be happy.

She had a good sense of humor. Giggling at Rump’s creepy laugh and that, “Hmph, come on, you’re happy that I’m back.”

She was assertive. When she came back, she knew exactly what she wanted. She took that straw right out of Rump’s hand, sat down, put her hand on his leg, and told him to tell her about his son. His reaction to that made me LOL.

She was a good judge of character. She knew that Rump didn’t really want a caretaker, that he just was just lonely. She didn’t buy his whole “oh you’re back….I don’t care” act when she returned from town. She knew he was happy.

She spoke her mind. When Rump told her to leave, she didn’t run away crying, she didn’t beg him to let her stay. The guy had just shook her in a fit of rage and threw her on the dungeon floor, and she had the balls to call him a coward right to face. HBIC.

She’s a very strong female character and very much like the Disney Belle. I’m just so grateful they didn’t make her a weak dumbass like Cinderella(the guy killed her fairy godmother right in front of her and she doesn’t even glance at the contract?).

I noticed as of now, Belle seems to be the most beloved guest character they’ve had on the show. So I think a lot of people feel the same way as I do about her. Belle is so iconic, it could have been so easy for them to ruin her. I’m extremely happy with how the writers and Emilie portrayed her.

I’m curious as to how her Storybrooke counterpart will be…
